Why does the Yeti Alu axe have a fixed handle?

The fixed aluminum rod is rigid and resistant to difficult conditions, Because it has no connectors or locks that could fail in the cold or when dirty. Aluminum does not absorb moisture and does not corrode, so the shovel can be used in the car all season. The ergonomic D-shaped handle provides a secure grip, and the 31 × 34.5 cm drawer is made of recycled rubber used in construction.

The material is resistant to frost and UV radiation and retains its properties at temperatures from -30°C to +45°C.

Yeti Alu or Yeti Telescopic – which one to choose for your car?

Both have the same drawer and are of similar size. The Yeti Telescopic has a handle that can be adjusted in the range of 70–84 cm, so it takes up slightly less space when folded, and when extended it is a bit longer. The Yeti Alu has a fixed handle that is 75 cm long, without a regulation mechanism. It is simpler and stiffer, and in the cold and mud there is nothing in it that could get caught.

Does a short shovel not strain the back?

The Yeti Alu is designed for short, temporary tasks such as clearing snow from wheels or getting out of the car, not for clearing the entire driveway. When working on a car, it is most comfortable to kneel on one knee, rather than bending over on straight legs. This way you will clear the wheels and the space under the bumper without straining your spine.

Will the aluminum handle be cold in the hands?

With your upper hand you hold the plastic handle, but with your other hand you grasp the aluminum rod directly, which quickly cools down in the cold. Therefore, it is worth carrying a pair of warm gloves with you in the car along with the shovel, preferably with a rubberized grip.

What else is worth carrying in the car in winter?

In addition to the shovel, you will also need: a snow brush, a window wiper, a window and lock defrosting tool, a flashlight, a thermal blanket, starter cables, and a sand bag or traction mat, which help get you moving on icy surfaces. For longer trips, it’s also worth bringing a power bank and a hot drink in a thermos.
