Aluminium does not absorb moisture and does not require maintenance, while the black thermal shrinkable sleeve provides a secure grip even on cold days. The whole thing is closed by an ergonomic D-shaped handle.

Smart 48 Ergo Alu or Smart 48 Basic – which one to choose?

Both have a drawer with a width of 48 cm. The Smart 48 Basic has a simple wooden handle and a length of 125 cm, so it is suitable for occasional snow removal and for people of lower stature. The Smart 48 Ergo Alu is more than 15 cm longer, has a lighter, contoured aluminum handle and a thermo-shrinkable cover. This is a better choice for frequent snow removal and for people of medium and tall stature.

Black or orange Smart 48 Ergo Alu?

The design of both versions is the same. The black one has a recycling plastic drawer and is suitable for daily snow removal of the property. The orange Smart 48 Ergo Alu belongs to the high-strength line and is well visible in the snow, which is why companies and crews working under heavy loads often choose it.

How is the Smart 48 Ergo Alu different from the larger Ergo Alu models?

The main difference is the width of the drawer. The Smart 50 Ergo Alu takes in a little more snow with similar maneuverability. The Smart 55 Ergo Alu has a drawer of 55 cm and a length of 144 cm, so it is better suited for large, open areas. The Smart 48 is the lightest under full load, so we recommend it for wet, heavy snow and longer work.

Is a 48 cm drawer enough to clear the driveway at home?

Yes. A typical driveway with a width of 3 m can be cleared with a 48 cm wide chute in 6–7 passes, while the full chute still has reasonable weight, even in wet snow. If you have a large yard or parking lot to clear, a scraper like the Titanium 80 will go faster.

Will the aluminum handle be cold in the hands?

The thermal shrinkable sleeve covers the middle part of the handle, the area where the lower hand holds onto the snow when it is snowing. With the upper hand you grip the plastic handle, so you don’t touch the bare metal when you are working normally. In severe cold, it is still worth working with gloves, preferably with a rubberized grip surface.

How to store the Smart 48 Ergo Alu blade?

It is most convenient to hang it on the D-shaped handle on the hatch in the garage or in the cellars; then the drawer will not rest against the floor and its edge will not warp. Before storing it, wipe the drawer clean of snow. Aluminum does not corrode, but left water can freeze at the hinge.
